Swedish Study Circles, democracy in action...

I read a book years ago about Sweden's study circle movement but never realized they originated here in the late 1800s. Though wikipedia claims they began in early 1800s Sweden, i don't know for sure. They are used very regularly in sweden for democratic purposes and adult education.
